The Limits of Pocket Folders

Pocket folder printing is a good supplement for a lot of related written material. However, there are situations where pocket folder printing might not be the best for your purposes. I have seen a lot of people invest in high quality folder printing only to find out that a booklet, catalog or magazine format was better suited.

How about you? Have you decided on printing pocket folders? To help you in deciding, here are a few limitations of pocket folder printing. If one of these things hits a chord, then you might want to try another type of print medium.

Limited Carrying Capacity
A presentation folder is of course just a simple color folder. It is not a binder or “case folder.” Because of this, pocket folders have limits in the number of things you can fit into them. Once your content for your folder reaches around 30 pages and above, it would be a good idea to rethink about printing color pocket folders. You do not want a folder crinkling up under the stress of those pages. It makes the folders look ugly, and ultimately it does not look professional. If you have many pages to bind together, why not redesign your content into a booklet or catalog?

Folders can be superfluous
Sometimes, using full color pocket folders with a glossy finish can be a bit too much. Have you heard the people saying that everything should be encased in a presentation folder to maximize their marketing potential? Yes, this may be true to a point. However, if you only have a one or two-page press release to give do you really need to insert them to a pocket folder? There are situations where prudence should be practiced and you should reconsider printing pocket folders. Sometimes, stapling things together, or adding a cover page can be enough. You might even save a few trees since you do not need the extra folder paper.

Extra Cost
As some people say, there is no such thing as a free lunch. Pocket folder printing will cost you. Often, since it is made of harder more durable material, it might even be more expensive than the stuff you are about to slide inside them. Think about this if you place to print pocket folders. Can your budget shoulder the extra cost of printing folders? Is it worth the money investment in printing them considering the goals of the project and the materials you will be using?

Used as a weak tying up tool
Lastly, people sometimes just put everything and anything inside folders. Well it is a folder after all. However, this is just a sign of weakness. When people just want to give every piece of written material and wrap them up in a folder it is probably going to look like a patchwork of unrelated material. People will get confused.

If the things you want to give away are only remotely related, then maybe it is best to give out those things separately. Since they are different printed material anyway, different people might only want specific content rather than the whole package. Therefore, you may not need a pocket folder.

Those are a few reasons to consider when you are thinking of pocket folder printing. If any of these things seem to be familiar to you, then you should rethink of printing your pocket folders. You might benefit more if you print other types like booklets, catalogs or magazines.
